Gmail

Email requests become reviewable suggestions.

Connect Gmail and Kernel reads new mail and your replies. When a thread asks something of you, it drafts a task, an event, or a reply for you to review. Analysis never changes your mailbox.

Highlights

  • Tasks, events, and replies

One email can yield a task with a due date, an event you'll attend, and a reply to “are you free?”, each reviewed on its own.

  • Your replies count

“Let me get back to you” turns an earlier question into a follow-up task, quoting both the request and your promise.

  • Done work closes itself

When a later reply shows the work was sent, the card reads Looks done, or is removed with Undo when Kernel is sure.

Events

Appointments you attend become events.

An event is suggested when you'll attend a dated appointment: you're invited, you arranged it, or it's your own matter, even when you're only copied. Meetings between other people are left out.

  • Each distinct appointment becomes its own suggestion
  • Several proposed times make one card, with every option listed
  • An appointment already on your calendar isn't suggested again

Existing work

Follow-ups land on the task you already have.

When an email is about work that already has a task, the suggestion offers Add to NWR-142 instead of a duplicate. When Kernel is sure, it adds the update to the task itself.

  • Create new task instead stays one click away
  • Updates appear in the task's Activity, marked Kernel Inbox
  • Links in the email can be attached to the task

Good to know

  • On connect, Kernel imports the last 48 hours of Inbox mail and your replies, then checks every five minutes.
  • Gmail access is granted separately from Google sign-in, through Connect Gmail in Settings → Inbox.
  • Analysis never changes your mailbox; the only email Kernel sends is a reply you reviewed and sent.
  • Files shared in a message, like a screenshot or a quote, are read with it and can travel to the task.
  • Each account syncs on its own, so one that needs reconnecting doesn't hold up the others.
  • Delete imported data removes an account's retained mail; accepted tasks and events stay yours.
