Toggl
Review the day, then send it to Toggl.
Kernel previews each day's recorded time with its Toggl destination before anything is written. New entries go out together, and copies changed in Toggl wait for you to choose a repair.
Highlights
Preview before sending
Every sync starts with a review of the recorded time it covers and where each entry will go. Nothing is written to Toggl until you choose Sync selected.
Mapped by client and project
An organization sets the default Toggl project. Its projects inherit it, map somewhere else, or opt out, and unmapped time is skipped rather than guessed.
Kernel stays the source
Sync goes one way. Edits made in Toggl never change Kernel, and Kernel only overwrites them when you tick Restore on that entry.
Mappings
Map a project from the preview.
When an entry has no destination, the preview can suggest the Toggl project whose client and name match. Use the mapping or choose another, then review the refreshed entry.
- Organization defaults, project overrides, or Don't export
- A suggestion appears only when one project matches
- Existing exports keep the destination they were sent to
Repairs
Toggl edits wait for your call.
If a copy is edited or deleted in Toggl, or its Kernel entry is deleted, the preview says so and offers a repair. Repairs are never preselected, and Kernel never guesses which Toggl entry is yours.
- Out of sync: Restore puts Kernel's values back
- Deleted in Toggl: Recreate sends a new copy
- Deleted in Kernel: Remove deletes the copy it made
Good to know
- You connect with your Toggl Track API token, which Kernel stores encrypted and never shows again.
- Toggl receives the task key and title, the work note, the start and duration, the project, and billability.
- Tags, rates, invoices, and Toggl project creation stay outside the sync; other Toggl fields are left alone.
- Running timers, planned blocks, and unaccepted time drafts are never sent.
- Entries without start and end times wait until you add them, because Toggl needs a start.
- Agents with a Full work API key can preview and run syncs on an existing connection.
